How to Sleep Better with Honey

When we have trouble sleeping, we often turn to chamomile tea or sleeping pills, but honey is hardly the first remedy that comes to mind.

However, there's a special type of honey that might change your approach to insomnia: Royal White Honey, nurtured by dedicated beekeepers on the beautiful coast of Sumbawa Island in Indonesia.

Its origins

Royal White Honey is considered one of the rare honey types, derived directly from Kiawe flower nectar. The Kiawe tree, a desert tree native to Ecuador and Peru, is a bushy tree with spines, spikes of greenish-yellow flowers, and long pods filled with small brown seeds.

These light yellow flowers attract wild bees, which produce rare, highly sought-after Royal White Honey.

Rare and unique

Royal White Honey is monofloral, meaning the bees that produce it feed almost exclusively on Kiawe flowers. The extraction process is delicate and requires precise timing.

If the honey is removed from the combs too early, it tends to ferment. If extracted too late, the honey crystallises in the comb and must be melted, which can affect its natural, delicate floral flavours. The result is a smooth, creamy honey with a distinctive milky golden colour, although, the colour and texture are not always the same, depending on the harvesting seasons.

Some describe an aftertaste of menthol, while others praise Royal White honey for its vanilla-almond flavour tones. This unique flavour profile adds to its allure and appeal.

Popular among women

Royal White Honey is renowned for its ability to reduce insomnia and improve memory. It's also incredibly popular among women due to its benefits in regulating the menstrual cycle, increasing fertility, and supporting healthy foetal development during pregnancy.

The insomnia curer

The magic of Royal White Honey lies in its high vitamin B6 content. Vitamin B6 is a natural remedy for insomnia, as it boosts the body's production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep.

Incorporating Royal White Honey into your nightly routine is simple. Mix a few teaspoons into water or blend it with yoghurt to enjoy its creamy, dreamy benefits. It also couples well with your night tea!
